If you’re 18 to 25 and want to continue or get involved with the ultimate Scouting adventure you can join the Scout Network.

As a Scout Network Member you are in the driving seat – network groups decide their own activities and programme. It’s very much a case of like minded individuals coming together to organise activities, trips and social life and with the backing of The Scout Association the costs are lowered, opportunities easier to find and there are always people on hand who know the best place to go to climb, hike, zorb…whatever takes your fancy.

Networkers get to take part in all the usual great Scouting activities such as kayaking, climbing, orienteering as well as working on projects helping to support your local community or international communities in need. You can also, if you choose, get more closely involved in working with the younger Sections.

Typical ‘programmes’ for networkers include going to festivals, night hikes, mountain biking (sometimes with a pub stop!) climbing, travelling overseas to help on a community project, helping younger Sections, all the while gathering some great info for the for CV. Networkers come from all walks of life from university students new to the area, through newcomers to scouting who are interested in adventurous pursuits, to locals who have been in Scouts since they were 6! All are welcome.

Members are encouraged to obtain qualifications through National Governing Bodies, for example some of our members have gained training qualifications through the British Canoe Union – they can also take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and gain the  highly respected Queen’s Scout Award. Amazing additions to any CV and also fun. Networkers never stand still!

The local Network for Combe Down is Bath City Network, to find out more information and to join please visit the District Network page.
